Mount Laurel Township is a township located in Burlington County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 40,221. Mount Laurel Township is less than thirty minutes from Philadelphia and ninety minutes from New York City.
Mount Laurel is ideally located close to Philadelphia, but far enough away that you can escape the hustle and bustle of a large city and be surrounded by the peace and quiet of the country. Mount Laurel is a growing, thriving community of professional people who would love nothing more than to welcome you to their town.

Mount Laurel beckons those who enjoy woods, lakes, farms and the beauty of nature. "Quiet, and relaxed, but close to major highways" is how one resident describes it. More than half of Mount Laurel still has a verdant cover of woods or farmland. And the city council plans on keeping it that way. They just purchased land that was slated for urban development and are creating a preserve. The flat expanse leading into the town is a relaxing break from the skyscrapers and traffic of the city. Mount Laurel offers a nice upscale neighborhood for people who want to live a little bit off the beaten path.
The lure of the area, with its many lakes and woods, dates to its days as an Indian territory. Its fifty lakes give it the feeling of a year round resort. It is a very active community and a sense of community pride is evident. The township has approximately four hundred acres of public recreational land, including picnic areas, playgrounds and fields for baseball, soccer and basketball. The year-round township recreational program ranges from toddler gym to adult tennis and senior citizen activities. There are farms with pastureland for raising horses and beautiful, quiet wooded trails for riding. The only thing not allowed in Mount Laurel itself is hunting! But if you like fishing, boating or other outdoor water sports, or any kind of sport for that matter, Mount Laurel is the place to be!
In academic performance, Mount Laurel students repeatedly exceed national norms on standardized tests of reading, language, mathematics, science and social studies. Also offered is a strong environmental education program.
